This is one of nature’s purest materials, endowed
with the highest qualities of durability and insulation, and which speaks
freely of the world it comes from; it is for this freedom of expression
that granites are chosen, for they achieve a dimension of chromatic relief
that distinguishes them from the cold repetitiveness of artificial products.
(Even as they try to imitate them). They have a limitless variety of veining
and colours, which means that your worktops will always remain new and
unique.
Granite is stain and scratch resistant, hygienic, easy to maintain and
keep clean , making it an ideal and popular choice for worktops in the
kitchen. In the last few years its popularity has outgrown other materials
such as laminate, wood, Corrian and tiled worktops.
As you are already aware, granite is a 100% natural
material, formed some 4000 million years ago as the Earth cooled and the
continents formed. Like marble, granite does occasionally contain natural
flaws, pot marks, and irregularities in the veins. A lot of granites are
actually resin filled at source, to eliminate and hide any flaws. These
are the very characteristics that distinguish the granites from each other
and should therefore be looked upon and considered part of their natural
beauty.
When cutting the slabs, extravagances
of ingenuity are devoted to ensuring the direction of the veins follow
through and irregularities are kept to a minimum. However, this is sometimes
unavoidable, considering the size and shape of the slabs |

the facts, questions & answers
The facts continued
compared to the templates. Since these imperfections
are not actually "imperfections" but characteristics inherent
in these natural materials, (like knots in timber) and are not detrimental
to the quality or strength. We will use our judgment and integrity, making
any decisions based upon our extensive knowledge and experience. Other
options, would be simply to buy more material, which will create a great
deal of waste, resulting in further costs and delays, that will inevitably
get passed on to the client!
For these reasons, we recommend you visit our workshop
(for your own peace of mind) and approve the slabs prior to us cutting
them. "If you don’t like the slab, we won’t cut it"!
Rest assured, we will not compromise the strength, aesthetics and quality
of any material or installation. For this reason we reserve the right
to reject material that we regard as being poor quality. This can sometimes
lead to short delays during the manufacture; A "catch 22" situation!
Although, this does reflect our commitment to quality.
Be present on day of templating. You can help us by
being there to answer any questions and agreeing various aspects of the
installation, such as the position of the joints etc. Verbal information
given over the telephone is subject to our interpretation and can sometimes
lead to mistakes being made. Since we are not psychic, no claims can be
made on this account.
