Points to RememberWhere under mounted sinks are required, it is not uncommon practise in the stone industry to reduce the opening slightly (2-3mm) this is to allow tolerance which may be required for a number of reasons. This will need to be brought to our attention if your planning (at a later date) to buy strainers or any fittings for the sink /s When installed, some worktops may appear to vary in colour. This may be due to reflectors in granite moving in different plains i.e. L shaped worktops in materials such as Blue Pearl and Emerald Pearl Due to the methods used in cutting the slabs from the quarried blocks, the thickness of the worktops can vary slightly. We strive to keep a maximum tolerance of +/- 2mm. Worktops are adjusted with plastic laminate packing to compensate for this variation and keep the joints level. The joints are finished with a small ariss to the top edge, unless otherwise specified Different types of granite are all subject to different characteristics and are all different to work Granite is sometimes susceptible to "Blowing Out". This occurs when contact is made with the material whilst cutting or grinding. This is common in a large particled granite. We fill and seal the affected areas with an epoxy resin (colour may vary slightly) to ensure the material is not left with any sharp edges or chips. All our repairs will be discreet A natural material that can incorporate flaws, pot marks, veining, irregularities and can never be guaranteed to remain consistent throughout the whole installation. Despite this, they are as perfect as nature made them. Baltic Brown, Giallo V and various other materials are sometimes resin treated at source to fill natural flaws and pot marks Slips around the sink and hob cut outs are used on rare occasions, where no other compromises can be found. In these circumstances biscuit joints are used to ensure they will not break Although one of the least porous stones, Granite can be stained if certain fluids are left on the surface for a prolonged period of time. We suggest not leaving spillages to dry on the surface as it can make removal more difficult. All our work is factory sealed and reports of staining are to date unheard of Due to the weight of granite, please ensure that your units are level and securely tied to the walls. When the templates are cut, limiting factors like access, stairs, lift size and the possible fragile nature of the selected material will be taken into consideration. Also at this stage, the position of the joints will be decided and agreed. Practicalities, aesthetics and budgets are taken into account. |
Points to RememberBreakages can and do occur in the manufacturing process; should this become the case, delays can become inevitable The size of the slab, is a major factor in selecting the maximum usable length / size of a worktop. Approximately 2.8 - 3M is the largest work surface we are able to manufacture and can be drastically reduced should you require a large "cut-out", especially in granites with larger crystals In order for us to achieve the best results, it is sometimes necessary to cut some of the stone on-site / in-situ. This will lead to a little dust, which we take precautions to keep to a minimum Despite its ability to withstand extreme pressure loadings, we advise against standing on the surface Very heavy, the following are approximate weights; Allow plenty of lead time so you are not rushed between selections. The more time you give yourself the better choices you can make. The more notice you can give to us and the earlier you place your order the more time we’ll have to source the best material and the more likely we’ll be able to fit in with your schedule Proof your material. It is strongly recommended when using a natural material to visually inspect the material prior to fabrication Unless instructed otherwise, work is generally started within 7 working days. When refurbishing / remodelling worktops you will need services beyond our own. Plumbing, electrical and joinery / cabinet work should be performed by qualified contractors. We will assist where we can but due to insurance limitations cannot accept any liability. Ensure access on day of scheduled installation. Delays
can be the result of other trades working in the same area of the installation |
